o5.o9.o8_ Long Overdue Updates... Hi guys... It's been a while since I updated the site, posted and did a lot of overhauls, but the last month has been CRAZY! To start things off, I played a couple of shows with the Justice Tour which Tom Morello put together to Feed the Poor, Fight the Power, Rock the Fuck Out... He really put something special together in each town and he invited my mom and me to play as many shows as we wanted. That being said, we were able to make Asheville and Chicago, which were both magical nights. I mean it was pretty badass to watch my mom playing Rainy Day Women #12 & #35 with Tom Morello and Wayne Kramer (of MC5) trading solos. Also, Perry Farrell, Ben Harper, Ike Reilly and my new fave, Boots Riley of the Coup performed. What a blast, and every show went to an individual cause. In Chicago, my mom and me went with them to the MayDay rally in the center of the city, with 10,000 people there celebrating Mayday and celebrating the anniversary of the 8 hour work day, as well as a lot of immigrants protesting and fighting for their rights within the nation. It was bad ass and Tom's dedication to his causes is truly inspiring. I also jammed a new tune at the Justice Shows called Black Ribbons That'll be the only time you hear that until the new record. Hope you guys dug it... Here's a shot of us doing I Am The Highway
Also, there has been some strange things going on with Sirius lately. Episodes cutting off, repeats, just hang in there. We had a new one last week with Stagecoach, and I'm not sure if the new episode will air this week or next week. I just turned it in, as it's been a heck of a week for me. I been traveling so non stop lately, its been hard to get in one place, but now i'm back on my normal schedule. Everything else is great... Dave Cobb is in the studio cutting the new Oak Ridge Boys record. It's gonna be the cat's ass. See u guys soon....... Also check out our 330 sessions. Link in the news... SFJ
o2.23.o8_ Consolers of the Lonely For those of you who don't know, I'm a massive fan of The Raconteurs and as of RIGHT NOW, their new album Consolers of the Lonely is available NOW EVERYWHERE. They totally bucked the system and released a bad-ass rock n' roll record before any kind of radio or print promotion straight to the fans with about a week's notice... In my opinion, in this day and age, such a move is exciting, and makes artists like me feel like there's hope in a time when the music business is sooooooooooo black.
Go buy the record HERE. But don't take my word for it, you'll see for yourself...

o2.23.o8_ Introducing Coley Read... For those of you that watched the Carson Daly performance, you noticed some lineup changes. We've gone with a new guitar player, Coley Read. Coley is an old friend of mine and came in to jam with us recently and blew us away! And now Coley is an official .357. He's a psychedelic country rock monster and we're glad to have him aboard. Robby Turner will return for Conan but we have to let him go back to his real life this year, as he was hooking us up last year after we decided to part ways with Leroy. We're all good friends with Ryan and Robby and they will be sorely missed, but we're back to an LA core for the main band... Another friend of mine, Gordon "Gordo" Hartin will be picking up the thumbpicks for some pedal steel playing with us this year too, making the .357 a perfect Quint-fecta. We can't wait to ROCK YOUR FACES this year! It's gonna be a good year. And we're gonna be slamming it harder than EVER. Time to get drunk and party.......

o2.13.o8_ Congrats TED and more...
Sorry for the delay in updates lately, but I've been down with the maw-fxing flu! Let's start this off with a big congrats to Mr. Ted Russell Kamp whose wife, on Feb 6th, gave birth to Theo Carson Kamp a healthy groovy baby boy! On another note, today's a bummer of a day, 6 years to the day my pops, hero and best friend passed away, so thanks for the outpour of kind words regarding today. Me and the gang have been working hard gearing up for our touring this year. It's gonna be a real special year and I feel like we've grown leaps and bounds, so it should be a kick-ass experience... Can't wait to see you all out there... Come down to the Carson Daly Outdoor Stage Show and hang out with the band! Check in with you soon!

o1.13.o8_ New York Times and Leno
I'd like to start this off by addressing something that's bother me. The New York Times just ran a piece on me and Drea and our daughter, and now I've been getting a lot of flack about what I said about Jon Bon Jovi. I've never been the kind of artist to badmouth people in public, and I wasn't planning on starting now. But I have to begin by saying that when you are in the public eye, often journalists what the most sensational piece they can write. They want to attract people to THEIR article by drawing them in with the most OUTSTANDING content. In this case, we went to dinner and this lady I believe from minute one was ready to write a hatchet piece on us. Of COURSE she's going to START the article with me BADMOUTHING somebody from New Jersey. Of COURSE they're going to sensationalize that Ana Bravo's husband was abusive and that's why she SHOT him. Of COURSE they're going to pull a quote of Drea's from an article she did in Blender YEARS ago about drugs and put it in the same sentence as our current parenting regiment. These people WANT to make us look like pricks or look eccentric because that SELLS their article and helps THEM. This type of narcissism in journalists is what makes most artists NOT DO INTERVIEWS. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the coverage, we need to sell records, but in this case and in many, I NEVER MEANT TO BADMOUTH JON FUCKING BON JOVI. I don't have a problem with Mr. Blaze of Glory, it's not exactly MY choice of music to listen to, but to each his/her own. She baited me by asking me what I thought about Mr. Runaway on Country radio. So people, quit yelling at me, and take this shit with a grain of salt. I do. In other news, Leno is booked for January 23rd! Can't wait to rock you guys again!

o1.o3.o8_ Letterman update
Letterman went great guys! We killed it, and we had 5 of the members of Paul Schaffer's band, including Paul, sing backup with us. Also Gary Murray (the most kickass fiddler ever) performed with us to complete the whole thing! Set your TiVo's, Friday January 4th is a rockin' night! We had a blast, and afterwards we all went to Virage and drank and ate with the whole gang. What a victorious start for 2oo8!
SFJ
o1.o1.o8_ Happy 2oo8 folks!
Happy New Years guys! 2oo8 looks to be a great year for us, I hope it will be for you too! On top of our Late Show with David Letterman performance on January 2nd and our CSi: Crime Scene Investigation feature on January 10th, we've got a lot more coming! We'll be on tour all year supporting The Wolf alone, and with The Charlie Daniels Band as part of the resurrected Volunteer Jam and we will DEFINITELY be coming to YOUR town! Also keep your eyes peeled for hints to the RETURN of a LEGEND continuing a legacy FOREVER. Lots of surprises and lots of fun coming your way for sure! Lots of new tracks will be put up online soon for those who have DECODED THE WOLF. Much love, and have a safe New Year's Eve....... ROCK N F N ROLL.

12.o5.o7_ Alabama in the Sky with Diamonds
Hey guys! It's good to be back, it's been a monster of a week, but little Alabama Gypsyrose Jennings has arrived, and boy is she cute! So me and Drea are pretty much homebound, besides your occasional outing, taking care of this little human! Thanks for all the kind words, we are without words! I never knew what to expect, but now I see why everyone says it's the best thing that can ever happen to you... As for business, silly film and tv industry, resolve this writers strike! Give these writers the money they deserve. They already make money on DVD sales, so why should they not make money off of internet commerce? It's FREE to copy an episode and download it, it COSTS to put it in a package and sell it! WHY do you NOT give them what they want and let the rest of the world continue work??? You guys are as bad as these STUPID record labels that want to try and bring down ITUNES because they are afeared of not being able to RIP OFF the public or the ARTISTS anymore! It's a rediculous state of affairs people! We are TENTATIVELY rescheduled for LENO in a week and a half (and I will let you know when this gets confirmed) but until they resolve this stupid strike EVERYTHING is on HOLD... Oh well, I can't complain about more time at home with my little drooling, pooping, burping angel, but I figured I'd let you all know!

11.27.o7_ Leno, CDB and babies
Hey guys! Been a crazy week here in NYC, lots of great things going on. We're gonna get a date soon in December for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in the next coupla days. Just waiting on this stupid strike to finish. Also, the Charlie Daniels Band tour is final, about 30 shows, just waiting on confirmed dates to post for you. Also waiting on a few more shows and tours to close so we can post em up here. Lot of stuff going on for next year! So I'm gonna take off about a week here, got a daughter comin' you know! So there won't be a radio show this week or many posts or updates. Y'all pray for drea and hope for a good delivery of the little hellraiser. This girl sure ain't gonna take no SHIT from NOBODY! Talk to y'all next week, and I'll give ya the good word!

11.16.o7_ CSi shoot Just got back from California. The CSi: Crime Scene Investigation shoot went great. We all had a set call of around 6 am so we were EXHAUSTED by the end of the day but it seemed like it went great. They chose the songs, "This Ol' Wheel" and "Higher" off The Wolf, which really impressed me... There was no politics or boundaries of "radio" or "country" or "rock" it was just the choice of two kick ass songs from the record cuz they wanted something really upbeat. Really made me feel like there was hope for songs like that. I still wish country music radio and video channels would pay attention to songs like those, because I feel like a big part of our sound is the hard rockin' element we bring to country which we kinda own the real estate on. So thanks to Richard (The director), Rudy (The music supervisor), Phil (the co-producer), and everybody else (from the crew to the extras) who treated us with such class and respect and gave us the opportunity to truly be ourselves. Oh and thanks for the beers... :) Unfortunately Ted couldn't be there because he's been in Europe touring for his solo records (we missed you!) so Mr. Faren Miller, our Stage Manager and Vibe Coordinator, stepped in and played bass in his place! We've been told the episode airs January 10, 2008 (which is Faren's birthday also!) so when we get closer, don't forget to set your TiVos or VCR's!

11.11.o7_ Ali, Bukowski and Gonzo Norman Mailer's death got me thinkin' people. Some of y'all may not know much about these folks, so I wanted to share some things with you. First off, I didn't know who Norman Mailer was until I watched a brilliant and touching documentary about Mohammed Ali called "When We Were Kings." He's on there giving commentary about what happened during the time. Mohammed was one of my dad's biggest heroes and is now one of mine. But there are two more documentaries y'all need to check out and they're both on TV right now. One is a documentary airing on the movie channels by Taylor Hackford on Charles Bukowski called "Bukowski: Born Into This" and the other is called "Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride" and is a solid documentary about the life of Hunter S. Thompson . Both men lived life to its fullest and lived (for the most part) to write about it. Both documentaries inspired me and also reflected alot of what I saw (or what I thought I saw) in myself. And please people, go out and pick up some writing by these guys. I don't read much at all, but this is some inspiring shit!
SFJ
11.1o.o7_ R.I.P Normal Mailer We lost a legend today. He invented the word "fug," he stabbed his 2nd wife at a party at his home, he challenged professional boxers, he flew gliders, had nine children, ran for mayor of New York and crusaded against women's liberation, but most importantly he inspired a generation.
Today, Norman Mailer is dead at age 84 of acute renal failure. He was one of my personal favorites, a brilliant writer and a revolutionary in his time. Known for his commentary in the Villiage Voice and such works as "The Armies of the Night," "An American Dream," "Deer Park," "The White Negro," and most recently (and one of my favorites) his brilliant take on Christianity, "On God." Pour one out for our fallen homies. First Porter now Mailer, please let's hope they dont really come in 3s. The light is slowly leaving the planet... Educate yourselves people...
